How packaging design should be
A great example of just being ‘honest’ and realising that you don’t need to dilute the message of what your product is, with all singing, all dancing colours and fancy graphics.
I can understand that there is a requirement for packaging to stand out over competing products, but this example of modest design, in my eyes, will promote trust and therefore, I will likely repeat purchase.

Yes, this is what i keep telling people
“simplicy is the key”
But yet everyday i see more and more designs (web, products etc) being over complicated. Now, if over the top graphics and color is what everyone else is doing, then simplicity will once again stand out from the crowd…
To counter argument this post, without diversity the world we live in would be a pretty dull place. It is just a good learning point to help people realise you can keep packaging simple and it will gain the same if not better response than something with screaming colours and fancy ‘wow’ stars.
If all else fails, and you cannot hit home to someone about the essence of simplicity, just send them to an Apple store.
i would just like to add too, that above i did mention over the top graphics and color, ‘over the top’ being more than is necessary.
but color and graphics are essential even in minimalist design, although i am a strong believer that at the end of the day typography rules, because type can be made graphical, whilst still conveying the message.
nice chating to ya James
